A Beach-Tastic Few Days

The little's and I came down to the beach {Seaside} with my mom for a few days of sun {even though it rained on Monday}, laughter {ya, there has been plenty of that}, and  fun {with a little drama thrown in}.  Monday we rode our bikes for 5 miles around Seaside and up to the Cove, Tristan ate his weight in pizza and Piper insisted that we walk her around town to fall asleep.

Today, we walked all over creation, played on the beach {ate a TON of sand}, witnessed Beach Patrol heroically save 5 people who got sucked out way too far into the ocean.  It was terrifying to watch their helpless family stand on the beach praying that all 5 of the guys out in the water would come back safe.  My mom walked down to see what was going on and the kids and I stayed up farther on the beach {I was worried that if someone had died and they brought the body on the shore that Tristan would be forever traumatized}, so instead Tris and I sat on the sand and prayed.  It was one of those really special moments.  Tristan prayed for the families who were standing on the shore and I prayed for the men in the water and the beach patrol that were braving the rough ocean to save them.  Then Tristan did something that super warmed my heart, he prayed that the men in the water would love Jesus and that they would see that God gave the beach patrol the strength to save them!!!  That kid amazes me.

Then took some photos for a special gift for GG {John's grandma, she has a big b/day party coming up soon. I'd post photos but I think she reads our blog and I don't want to spoil the surprise!}, then we went to dinner and Tris rode the train.  Now we are back at the beach house, getting ready for bed.

Tomorrow, we will start the fun all over and head home mid afternoon.  I love b/c of TSFL and John's job I am able to take off for a few days and hang with the kiddos.  Every day I am reminded of how blessed we are.

And here is a quick little video of Piper walking:

What A Weekend

Saturday morning we got up bright and early and headed over to Bend for my good friend, Mollie's son's birthday at Bouncing Off The Walls.  We got to celebrate Wyatt turning 4 and then headed over to their house for some seriously yummy chicken and salad then made the 3 hour drive home.  I was kind of dreading the long trek there and back but as it turns out, the kids slept or entertained themselves pretty well and John and I had some great conversation.

This morning we Jeeped it to the the Orrell's house for Awaken {church}, Keith led worship {which rocked} and we had a great discussion about serving others and what the Bible has to say about living beyond ourselves.  I love God's Word.

Then Home for our neighborhood BBQ that we hosted.  There wasn't a ton of people, but the people that came we wonderful.  We were able to meet a few new neighbors and connect a bunch of people we already knew with some other neighbors!  Then Lisa and I proceeded to kick John and Matt's rear end in a new game Matt brought over {Then John and I kicked Matt & Lisa's rear ends...but I don't want to point that out!!!}  The kids played and played and played some more, threw water balloons and ate a TON of sugar!  I love living in this neighborhood with these people.  You guys all make life so enjoyable!!

{What did you do this weekend?}
